Characteristics and Applications
Grooving and parting off inserts are cutting tools used for turning operations. The shape of this insert is triangular and has no specific ISO code. Ours is an M-series version, a left-hand tool, suitable for customers who still use the M-series version. This type of tool holder is used for vertical grooving and has a total of 3 cutting edges. If you wish to use this type of insert for cutting applications, it can only be done if the depth of the workpiece is less than the total depth of the insert.
The shape of the chip breaker is generally an inclined plane. Depending on special requirements, a curved chip breaker may be used. The size of the cutting R angle is also divided into many sizes. The type of groove shape and R angle to be used depends on the type of material to be machined.
