Metal Turning Inserts

The characteristic of negative angle inserts is that the angle between the cutting surface of the insert and the workpiece surface is less than 90 degrees. This cutting angle design allows the insert to generate greater cutting pressure during cutting, resulting in better cutting performance and chip control. The negative angle design is particularly suitable for machining difficult-to-machine materials and difficult cutting conditions.

Negative angle inserts are usually made from wear resistant materials such as carbide or ceramic. These materials have high hardness and wear resistance and can withstand high-speed cutting and high load applications. These inserts have multiple cutting edges so they can be rotated or replaced as the blade wears, extending the life of the tool.

Negative angle inserts are widely used in metal turning and can be used on a variety of materials including steel, cast iron, stainless steel, etc. Negative inserts provide stable cutting under certain conditions, reduce tool wear and effectively control chip shape.

A negative angle turning insert is a cutting tool used in rotary machining processes to remove material from a round workpiece to produce the desired external shape or internal hole. Typically, turning inserts are locked into the toolholder and mounted on the lathe toolholder, these inserts have specific cutting geometries and edge designs for efficient turning capabilities.
